About Sproule

Sproule Associates Limited, a privately owned geological, geophysical, and petroleum engineering consulting company, was established in 1951 by the well-known Canadian geologist Dr. John Campbell Sproule (1905-1970).

Sproule's head office is located in Calgary, in the Sun Life Building. The Sproule Executives and staff are located in the Calgary office.

Sproule is a full-service petroleum consultancy, able to undertake integrated projects encompassing geophysics, petrophysics, geology, geo-modeling, reservoir engineering, simulation and economics. These projects are conducted using state-of-the-art software and run the gamut from seismic program management, exploration play assessments, gas supply studies, reservoir optimization studies, field development planning, gas storage evaluation and carbon dioxide sequestration through corporate evaluations and regulatory filings. Projects may range from single wells to fields containing thousands of wells and from conventional oil and gas fields to oil sands, coalbed methane, shale gas and shale oil. In short, we have the skills to evaluate all aspects of both conventional and unconventional gas and oil resources and reserves, anywhere in the world.

Sproule has a full-time staff of 114 people, including 4 geophysicists, 3 geo-modellers, 15 geologists, 5 reservoir simulation engineers and 43 reservoir engineers. The average experience level for our senior professional staff is in excess of 20 years.

Sproule Associates Limited consists of over 70 employees, made up of engineers, geologists, geophysicists and technical staff who carry out evaluations on properties in Canada. We also prepare reports for bid round and land sale evaluations, acquisitions and divestitures, facility and pipeline optimization or expansions, field development and production optimization, financial reporting, regulatory filings, public offerings, and litigation or arbitration assistance.

Sproule International Limited was created to handle projects located outside Canada and has over 35 employees, consisting of engineers, geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, geological modellers, and technical staff. We conduct projects in almost every country of the world, and have recently worked in, or are currently working in, Algeria, Argentina, China, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Gabon, India, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, New Zealand, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Tunisia, the UK North Sea, and Venezuela.

Three new divisions were set up in 2008, beginning with Sproule U.S. Limited, created to carry out projects in the United States, where we are becoming increasingly involved in areas such as shale gas and shale oil resources.

With the maturation of conventional resources leading to a shift toward unconventional resources, Sproule Unconventional Limited was set up to carry out projects in oil sands, coalbed methane, shale gas and shale oil. This shift is not just in North America but worldwide. Sproule has recognized expertise in the evaluation of oil sands mining and in-situ projects - especially thermal recovery processes - and coalbed methane projects, and are becoming increasingly involved in the evaluation of shale gas resources. In addition, we are seeing more inquiries concerning oil shales and we anticipate that we will be evaluating gas hydrates within the foreseeable future. Guidelines for the evaluation and disclosure of such unconventional resources are still evolving and Sproule is active in the development of such guidelines in Canada.

Sproule Project Management Limited was created as a result of a need to provide fully integrated reservoir studies and project management services, encompassing environmental, operational, facility, upgrading and marketing expertise.

Clients include oil and gas companies, financial organizations, and government agencies; they use Sproule reports for technical and financial planning, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, securities reporting, debt financing, estate settlements, insurance claims, and litigation.

Sproule's experience and skills in the areas of geological, geophysical, and petroleum engineering services have resulted in a reputation as an excellent educator, and we are well known for the industry-related educational courses we offer.

Sproule offers excellent career potential, and welcomes resumes at any time from those experienced in the evaluation of oil, gas and by-product reserves or from young, highly motivated University graduates.

Our goals for 2009 are to continue to enhance our ability to service our clients' needs by expanding our capabilities to evaluate unconventional resources, especially shale gas and shale oil, and our capabilities to provide fully integrated reservoir studies and project management services encompassing environmental, operational, facility, upgrading, and marketing expertise.
