Highly qualified petroleum engineers, technologists, and technicians at Sproule provide expertise in oil and gas exploration and development, as well as production and transportation, and have extensive experience with the challenges and problems inherent in operations in remote locations.

Sproule is recognized as a leading expert in the evaluation of petroleum reserves. Projects range from appraisals of the total producing and exploration assets of large oil companies to evaluations of small properties, individual wells, or land sale parcels.

We evaluate oil, natural gas, and gas by-products reserves by forecasting production and product prices, as well as capital and operating expenses. Various interests and burdens are incorporated into the assessment. Production taxes and income taxes are included in the economic forecasts, either at the property or corporate level. We also consider all applicable government royalties, taxes, and incentives. We prepare the economic evaluations using Sproule's in-house winNeval as well as Energy Navigator's Value Navigator and Schlumberger's Merak products.

Sproule's engineers assist clients in optimizing recovery and maximizing profitability, through detailed analyses of primary depletion mechanisms and enhanced recovery opportunities for oil fields, deliverability and cycling studies for gas fields, as well as unconventional projects, such as coalbed methane, heavy oil and oil sands (surface mining and in-situ).

We also undertake petrophysical studies, using modern evaluation techniques on open-hole and production logs. These analyses can be supplemented by conventional and special core studies, which include capillary pressure, wettability, flood plot, and imbibition tests.

Our professionals are experienced in the preparation of submissions to various regulatory and other government agencies. We provide assistance with unitization, gas export applications, oil and gas production allowable applications, submissions for enhanced recovery and cycling projects, approvals of "Good Production Practice," and applications for commingling of production.
